Back to the Future Flux Capacitor

Here we have our Back to the Future flux capacitor! This piece is remote controlled and can cycle through various modes which include: simply having a pulsing lighting effect, actual time circuit sequence which also plays an audio clip from the movie at the same time, playing the theme music from the movie or simply having the lights be statically on always. This unit was hand coded with clips and captures from the actual movie to emulate the exact sequence done in the movie. This was not a purchased prop but with all props from Enchanted Tech Labs, this was hand made to be as interactive and authentic as could possibly be.

  • Case is authentic model from the movie purchased from online retailer

  • Glass tubes were hand made using glass tubing purchased online and heat gun

  • Printed on: Creality CR10 Pro version 2 (for parts that were 3D printed)

  • Print time: ~2 weeks

  • Print medium: PLA

  • Post processing time (sanding, painting, etc…): ~1 month

  • Including electronics:

    • 3mm and 5mm LED lighting for various effects (3mm are 12v DC versions while 5mm are 5v DC)

    • 2 Arduino pro micros (one to run audio subsystem, and second to run lighting subsystem)

    • RF remote control module to allow remote function

    • DF Player mini for audio output

    • Various transistors to allow controlling of current to flow to 12v LED’s via digital Arduino 5v output pins
